Phenix City in title game

One of the two teams teams that will be playing for the Alabama Little League State Championship was decided Tuesday night at the Andalusia Sports Complex.

The Phenix City All-Stars earned an 8-0 victory against the Huntsville International All-Stars to remain undefeated in the state tournament and advance to the championship game.

Phenix City scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Cody Pearcy started the rally with a double. Austin Allison followed Pearcy with an RBI-single after Pearcy advanced to third on a passed ball.

Allison went to second on a passed ball and then to third on another passed ball.

Joey Keyser kept the rally going by drawing a walk.

Allison and Keyser both rounded the bases to score as Jeremy Boyte reached on an error, Bryce Lane drew a walk and Nathan Kilcrease reached on an error to keep the rally going.

Huntsville got out of the inning without any more damage, but failed to score in the top of the second inning.

Phenix City scored three more runs in the bottom of the second to double its lead.

Allison reached on a single and scored on an RBI-double by Kyser. Kyser scored when Boyte followed him in the batting order and ripped a double. Boyte scored on an RBI-single by Lane.

In the bottom of the third inning, Josh Hurst scored to give Phenix City a 7-0 lead after reaching base on a fielder's choice.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Ricky Richards rounded the bases as a pinch runner for Lane

to give Phenix City an 8-0 lead. Kilcrease had an RBI-double in the inning.

Chad Robinson was the winning pitcher for Phenix City, allowing just two hits and one walk in six innings of work. He struck out five in the game.

The Phenix City All-Stars will face the Russellville All-Stars in the championship game at 7 p.m. tonight.

If Phenix City is defeated a second championship game will be played at 7 p.m. on Friday.
