Everybody is excited and talking about high school football practice beginning. They are eagerly anticipating the start of the season later this month.

Football, however, isn't the only sport in town.

The Andalusia High School volleyball squad is also busy preparing for the 2002 season with the first match set for Thursday, Aug. 29 against Daleville.

AHS Head Coach Angie Grimes said the players stayed busy this summer staying in shape. Most of the members of the squad also attended a team camp at Troy State University where they grew closer together as a unit.

The Andalusia campers finished second at the three-day camp after working on their fundamentals, including teamwork, serving, setting, spiking, blocking and various other aspects of the game.

Grimes said the team has been practicing since Monday and the future is bright.

"We've had good practices," Grimes said. "The girls really have a positive outlook for this year. They are all motivated for this season."

The members of the 2002 AHS volleyball squad are Katie Enzor, Hannah Bush, Brandie Ammons, Meghan Sasser, Lauren Carroll, Lanada Grant, Meagan Faust, Mollie Frazier, Katie Tyler, Sarah Anne Wilkes, Mary Beth Wilkes, Kristan Champion, Katie Biggs and lone senior Hope Riley.
