Two hurt in wreck

A one-vehicle accident on U.S. 84 Tuesday afternoon resulted in the injury to two persons.

According to B. L. Wilson of the Covington County Sheriff's Department, a 1997 Oldsmobile Regency traveling westbound apparently ran off the right side of the road and lost control, and did not stop until it overturned and landed 75 yards from where it had

originally lost control.

Injured in the accident were 69-year-old Christine Edgar and 39-year-old Terry Edgar, both of Opp.

A spokesperson with the Alabama State Troopers said the accident occurred at approximately 1:12 p.m.

The two people in the car were entrapped and had to be cut out, said Wilson.

Wilson said the scene may have been more severe if not for the assistance of many concerned citizens and various law agencies.

The agencies included officers with the Covington County Sheriff's Department, Andalusia Police Department, Andalusia Rescue Squad, Andalusia Fire Department, Sanford Volunteer Fire Department, Covington County 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force, River Falls Police Department and the Gantt Police Department.

Both injured persons were transported by the Andalusia Rescue Squad to Andalusia Regional Hospital.

According to a spokesperson at the hospital, both victims were listed in stable condition and were still undergoing evaluation as of late Tuesday afternoon.
