Joseph Goza of Flat Rock defended his Buckmasters Top Bow Indoor World Championship title on Sunday.

Goza, however, had to work for his second consecutive championship.

His first one-on-one, single-elimination match Goza faced 15-year-old Hunter Junkin of Gordo. Junkin had shot a perfect round ear;ier in the competition.

Goza overcame the young archer and advanced all the way to the finals where he faced Donald Bishop of Arden, N.C.

Both archers had perfect scores in the finals to set up a red dot shoot-off.

Goza won when his arrow hit the target closer to the red dot placed inside a target's 8-inch by 10-inch rectangular square.

Goza's win in the red-dot shoot-out earned him the Top Bow Indoor Championship. He also had the best cumulative score to take home the High Score Award.

Covington County was represented by two archers in the tournament.

Richard Hammett had a 153 in the first round and a 157 in the second round to earn a 17th-place finish with a score of 310.

Robert Barton finished in 23rd with a combined score of 275 after two rounds. He shot a 136 in the first round and 139 in the second round.
