Andalusia's wishbone ran like a well-oiled machine on Friday, as the Bulldogs raced out to a 27-0 halftime lead and routed Gulf Shores 41-14 in the 4A Region 1 opener for both teams. Richard Justice was the star for the 1-1 Bulldogs, carrying 11 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns, plus another score on a 92-yard punt return.

"We had some other plans for tonight," said Andalusia coach Paul Woolley, who had all of his players see action."But the wishbone worked so well, we decided to stick with it."

Justice sandwiched scoring runs of 12 and 5 yards around a 1-yard touchdown sneak by quarterback C.T. Eldridge and Wesley Liles added a 52-yard touchdown run, as Andalusia rolled out to a 27-0 lead at the half.

Justice then scorched the Dolphins twice for scores in the third quarter. The first came on a 25-yard touchdown run that capped a five-play, 66-yard drive. The Bulldogs then forced a three-and-out and Justice took the punt 92 yards for another Andalusia score and a 41-0 Andalusia lead.

Gulf Shores (0-2) finally got on the board with 4:17 left in the game when Jimbo Moxley scored on a 1-yard run. The Dolphins then recovered an onside kick at the Andalusia 42 and, after three running plays netted no gain, Cedrick Gaynor sprinted 42-yards around left end for the score.

Moxley led Gulf Shores with 82 yards rushing on 26 carries.

"We're just going to have to regroup," said Gulf Shores coach Robby Guthrie. "We have 27 players on the team who have had no football experience, but we're together as a unit."

Andalusia returns to the gridiron next Friday when they host Monroe County. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
