The Monroe County Tigers are 1-1 on the season after a 41-12 win against Coffeeville in the season-opener and a 30-12 loss to UMS-Wright in Week 2.

The lopsided loss in Week 2 is no reason for the 1-1 Andalusia Bulldogs to overlook the Tigers, according to AHS Head Coach Paul Woolley.

'They are a good bit better than last year," Woolley said.

The game is an important Class 4A, Region 1 contest. The visiting Tigers are currently 0-1 in region play. The home-standing Bulldogs are 1-0 after last week's road victory against Gulf Shores.

Woolley said the Tigers like to run the ball and only pass a few times per game. The key for the Bulldog defense will be limiting ball carriers to a minimum of yards and to not get caught off guard by the occasional pass.

The Tigers have a solid rushing attack with talented running backs. Woolley said the Tigers also have a quarterback with some wheels and he will rush the ball on bootlegs and other designed quarterback rushing plays.

"They run a double wing offense with motion," Woolley explained. "They're going to throw the ball seven or eight times a game.

"Running is their game," he added. "They run sweeps, reverses and an occasional option. They pass off fakes on those plays."

Woolley also said the Tigers have some quickness that could pose some problems if the Bulldog defenders do not stay in their lanes and over pursue.

"They have enough speed that you have to stop them both on the inside and on the outside," Woolley said. "Our linebackers are going to be key and the secondary will have to take care of the passing game.

"We have to stay at home and contain on defense," he added.

The game is being played at Andalusia Municipal Stadium with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
