The Babbie community was the site of a murder which took place early Monday morning, according to the Covington County Sheriff's Department.

On Monday morning, the Sheriff's Department, Alabama State Troopers, the Opp Police Department and agents with the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force responded to a gunshot victim on Ezra Mack Road in Babbie.

Upon arriving in the scene, officers found Benson Edward Holler, 25, with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Upon an

investigation, Allie Benson Barnett, the grandfather of Holler, was arrested and charged with murder and is being held in the Covington County Jail on a $500,000 bond. The case remains under investigation by the Covington County Sheriff's Department, the Opp Police Department and the Covington County District Attorney's Office.
