Alna Ruth Owens

Alna Ruth Owens, 74, of Dozier, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 in a local nursing facility.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Terry Stewart and Minister Jeff Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery.

Survivors include husband, Farrel Daniel Owens of Rose Hill Community; two daughters and son-in-laws, Judy and Donald Knox of Andalusia, Ramona Faye Owens of Rose Hill Community; two grandchildren, Donna Marie Hendley of Andalusia and Julie Denise Kyzar of Valley of Shiloh; five great-grandchildren, Amber Stephens, Scarlett Knox, Madyson Hendley, Johanna Hendley, John Everett Hendly all of Andalusia; two sisters, Addie Bell Myers of Long Beach, Miss., Alma Ruth Shreve of Rose Hill; two brothers, James Owens of Straughn Community and Ansley Owens of the Antioch Community and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers included Chris Owens, Rick Hendley, Keith Grimes, Frank Morrison, Gene Thompson, Jessie Owens, Robert Owens and Adrian Dyess.

Ashley Elizabeth Williams

Ashley Elizabeth Williams, 18, of Andalusia and a freshman at Auburn University died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002 in a Birmingham hospital.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. from the Bethany Baptist Church in Andalusia with Rev. Barry Holcomb and Rev. Scott Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Foreman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was a 2002 graduate of Andalusia High School where she was involved in the SGA, a member of the Memolusia Yearbook Staff a former member of the AHS Marching Band and a Majorette. She was currently a Freshman at Auburn University and was majoring in business. She was a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Chi Omega Sorority.

Survivors include her parents, David and Nancy Williams of Andalusia; two sisters, Ginny Williams of Andalusia and Auburn, and Kathryn Williams of Andalusia. Her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Cross of Andalusia, and paternal step-grandmother, Mrs. Isabel Williams of Andalusia.

Her maternal great-grandmother is Ovie Enzor of Andalusia. She also had several aunts and uncles, Paula and Robert Anderson of Niceville, Fla., Mary and Chuck Dutton of Andalusia, Leigh and Dale Locklier of Roanoke, Virginia, Amy Williams of Andalusia , Wyatt and Jeron Reaves of Andalusia, Marcia and Tommy Green of Destin, Fla., and Hunter and Jerry Harrell of Macon, Georgia.

Pallbearers will be Josh Dutton, Michael Dutton, Bryan Anderson, Blake Barton, Patrick Jones and Cliff Stokes. Honorary pallbearers will be the sisters of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Chi Omega Sorority of Auburn University.

Dorothy Grantham Wood

Dorothy Grantham Wood, 74, of Panama City Beach Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002.

Originally from Red Level, Dot was a school teacher at Rawls School in Gantt for several years. She and her husband Ferrell Wood were also residents of Andalusia and Montgomery before moving to Birmingham in 1966. While living in Birmingham, she was a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church, an active member of the Ladies Golf Association of Green Valley Country Club and owner of Deb's Hallmark at Eastwood Mall, Five Points West and Downtown. After moving to Panama City Beach in 1985, she became a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church and an active participant of Bay Point Ladies Auxiliary, as well as other community involvement.

Dot was also known for her artistic endeavors, assisting in water color and oil instruction, as well as freelance painting for select clients.

Survivors include husbands of 53 years, Ferrell Lee Wood of Panama City Beach, Fla.; two sons, Greg (Dede) and Mike (Robin) Wood; a daughter, Deborah Hastings (Bob), all of Hoover; five granddaughters, Hillery Wood of Boulder, Colo., Merrill Wood of Lincoln, Neb., Morgan Wood, Ryan Lee Wood and Amelia Hastings, and one grandson, Gabe Hastings, all of Hoover; three sisters, Glenda Bradley of Opelika, Inez Castleberry of Red Level, and Ann Hugghins (Thomas) of Panama City Beach; one brother, Cy Grantham (Betty) of Red Level; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family invites you to a celebration service to be held at Foreman Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, with graveside services at New Home Primitive Baptist Church in Red Level immediately following.
