A father and son from Opp were arrested recently on various drug charges by the Covington County 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force (DTF).

According to a spokesperson with the DTF, on Sept. 30 at approximately 8 p.m., officers with the Andalusia Police Department received a call from the Wal-Mart store and upon responding, was informed by management that a male subject had purchased items commonly associated with a methamphetamine laboratory.

A lead was also received that the suspect's son was allegedly waiting outside in a car.

A request was made to Roger Cender of the Covington County Sheriff's Department to make contact with the son.

Consent was granted to search the vehicle, and a further search led to the discovery of more items associated with a methamphetamine lab.

A pill bottle was also found containing methamphetamine residue.

Arrested in connection with the items were Michael Foster Boothe, 44, of Opp, as well as his son, Bradford Foster Boothe, 20, also of Opp.

Michael Boothe was charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance in the second degree, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft of property in the third degree. His bond was set at $273,000.

Bradford Boothe was charged with manufacturing of a controlled substance in the second degree, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bond was set at $270,000.
