According to a spokesperson with the Alabama State Troopers, a single-vehicle accident Saturday night resulted in one fatality.

The trooper said the accident occurred on County Rd. 63. A time of the accident was not immediately known.

He added that no other information can be released at this time as forensics investigators are continuing to investigate the case.

It was deadly weekend on Alabama roadways as traffic accidents claimed at least nine other lives.

These included:

A two-vehicle crash about 8:20 a.m. Saturday killed Cynthia Berkley, 33, of Slocomb and her five-year-old daughter, Rebecca Berkley. The accident occurred about three miles west of Dothan on the Fortner Street Extension.

Stephen A. Hrom, 18, of Mobile, and A.C. Vickery, 79 of Daphne, were killed after their vehicles collided on Baldwin County 27, one mile east of Fairhope about 8 a.m. on Saturday. Seat belts were in use by Hrom and Vickery, said troopers.

Chassity Cammon, 21, of Cullman, died in a three-vehicle crash on Alabama 69, about a mile south of Fairview about 11:40 p.m. Saturday. Troopers said Cammon ws not wearing a seat belt when the vehicle she was driving was struck in the rear and pushed into the path of a third vehicle.

Melvin Goldsmith, 23, of Greenville, was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Butler County 43,

about 3:48 p.m. Saturday. Troopers said Goldsmith, a passenger who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle which struck a tree.

A head-on collision on Interstate 85 claimed the life of 18-year-old Anthony Thomas Upchurch of Harvest. The accident about five miles of Shorter occurred about 11:13 p.m Saturday. Troopers said Upchurch was wearing a seat belt.

A three-vehicle crash on U.S. 45 killed one person and injured two others in Citronelle about 9:04 p.m. Saturday. The victims were not immediately identified.
