Reader unhappy with changes in Andalusia

Dear Editor:

Well, citizens of Aandalusia, It's been over two years since you elected Earl Johnson as your mayor. How many more jobs have been established since he has take office?

I must say, though, that I've never seen any mayor before accomplish what he has in such a short time.

Just look at Church Street, Does anybody know how much money he has spent on that little project?

How much has he already spent on East Three Notch Street School and how much more before that project is finished?

If this wasn't enough, check out the new sign that's been going up for months that's not finished either. Get him to tell you what that little project has cost you.

Folks, the only thing that I can see is just how much of your tax dollars are being wasted by your mayor. I have to put the blame on him, because it seems the council members either don't have any say-so or they don't have the guts to stand up to him and say no.

I only see one person who has benefited since Earl took office and that's Earl.

Let's take a look at how much he has stuffed into his pockets since being just a so-so attorney. First, he got elected as Mayor and in no time, increased his salary. He appointed himself to the electrical board at Alabama Electric Co-op and receives a monthly check there. He gets a healthy check from Covington Electric Coop, which I personally feel, as (he is) their attorney, is a conflict of interest.

Now, he has appointed himself as the superintendent of his newly formed utility board or Andalusia at a whopping $5000 a month salary . At the same time, he appointed two of his disciples on the board as well. Now if Andalusia really needed this board, explain to me why these three are the top dogs since none of them know squat about the utilities.

Wouldn't a mayor whose best interest was in the city have hired someone with the knowledge and experience to oversee and run the board?

Of course he would.

When this mayor took office, he fixed it where you couldn't come to the council meeting and ask questions or voice your opinion without getting on the agenda. That should have told you something and given you an idea of what was to come.

I still say, as I did during the election, that if Earl Johnson is the Mayor of Andalusia, before he leaves office, the utilities of Andalusia will be sold. Where is the money going to come from to pay all this spending that he's doing? I'll tell you. Either he is going to raise your sales tax or raise your utilities or both.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if his next project is to form a new TV Cable system for the city. Watch what I'm telling you - whatever he wants, he gets.

So, with this said, I'm sure that he will want to respond to what I've had to say, but I don't believe him before he was elected and I certainly don't believe him now. His actions have spoken louder than his words.

Not happy with changes in paper

Dear Editor:

I read the headline the other day about the "new" look to the Star Snooze.

I didn't see the change until I got to the comics and saw one called "Monty" which is about two guys in a nudist colony.

Lets get real, what's with this trash.

Do you really have to print this kind of garbage that has no humor?

It's bad enough I see the same political cartoon two and three days in a row (as was the case on Jan 15 & 16) but let's face it there's no news to speak of now that we haven't had any meth labs being busted.

Of course, there's always the comic page that's off center so half of the last frame of each comic is cut off.

I don't think I'll be renewing my subscription any time soon.
