Tigers claw Bulldogs

Forget about TNT, the Red Level Tigers know drama.

The varsity Tigers and the B-team Tigers both recorded wins against the visiting Andalusia Bulldogs on Friday. Both wins came in the final second and in dramatic fashion.

HUDSON'S FREE THROWS SINK BULLDOGS

Red Level guard Larry Hudson was fouled with 0.7 seconds left in overtime and made both free throws to give the Tigers a 56-55 win. The victory improves the Tigers' record to 19-1.

The game was tight from the beginning with Red Level staking claim to a 14-13 lead in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Red Level stretched their lead to five points with a 28-23 edge at the half.

The Tigers held a 38-33 lead after three quarters of play.

The Bulldogs charged back in the final period to knot the score at 47-47 sending the game into overtime.

In the extra period, the two teams played hard-nosed basketball with Hudson hitting his two free throws late to earn the win.

Hudson ended the game with 11 points. Frank Tolbert was the leading scorer with 25 points against Andalusia. Dexter Brundidge just missed double figures with nine points. Antonio "A.J." Harris had five points and Tanner Carroll added four points. Jamie Perry scored two points for Red Level.

Terrence Smith was the leading scoring for the Bulldogs with 22 points. Keli Junior hit for 16 in the game. Alvin Daniels scored eight points. Michael Cauley scored five points. Jamaal Heavens ended the game with four points.

LADY BULLDOGS CRUISE PAST LADY TIGERS

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs earned a 52-28 win against the Red Level Lady Tigers on Friday.

Ashley Johnson paced the Lady Bulldogs with 21 points in the win. Keishawna Wright added 18 points in the victory.

Kathy Crittenden scored seven points. Apri Kilgore scored four points.

Red Level's leading scorer was Victoria Ferrell with 15 points. Danielle DeRouen scored seven points. Lane Harrelson had three points. Gabrielle DeRouen scored two points and Chequita Calloway had one point.

B-TEAM TIGERS NIP BULLDOGS

Justin Griggs hit a three pointer at the buzzer for a 43-42 Red Level win in the B-team game on Friday. Griggs ended the game with 13 points.

Wayne Goldsmith was the leading scorer for Red Level with 14 points. Malcolm Lawson added 12 points. Tim Ryce scored four points.

Chris Cotton and Andrew McTyere paced the Bulldogs with nine points each. Josh Johnson scored eight points. O'Darrius James scored six points. Zack Chavers had five points. Michael McTyere had three points and Alex Taylor scored two points.
