John Norris

John Norris, age 61, of Andalusia died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at his residence.

Funeral services for Mr. Norris will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Norris of Andalusia; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Casey Norris of Morristown, Tenn.; his daughter and son-in-law Sonya and John Hughes of Andalusia; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Hughes of Andalusia and Lauren Riley Norris of Morristown, Tenn.; his mother, Lizzie Norris; a brother, Bobby Norris; sister, Dorothy Jones, all of Andalusia.

Visitation will be at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

Pashia K. Williams

Pashia K. Williams, 81, of Red Level died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 in a Luverne hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Miller and Rev. Drexall Copeland officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter, Nannette Madison of Red Level; one son, Eddie Balkcom of Irvington; two grandchildren, Johnny Madison of Red Level and Alex N. Balkcom Jr. of Irvington.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Foreman's Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or a memorial may be made to the charity of your choice.

Hope Murphy Baker

Hope Murphy Baker, of Coolidge, Ga. died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 at Coolidge Memorial Baptist Church where she was a member, with Rev. Mik Keown and Rev. Harold Pullen will officiate. Burial will follow in Murphy Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 13, 1921 in Thomas County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Luther Perry and Volena Pickett Murphy. A lifelong resident of Coolidge, she reitred from Thomas County School System as a media clerk and was a homemaker in the truest sense of theword, making family and friends feel welcomed and loved.

Survivors include a son, Cary C. Baker Jr. of Andalusia; daughter and son-in-law, Emalie and Larry Jarret of Gillsville, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Angel Baker of Andersonville, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Baker; sisters, Nadine Borom and Donita Turner, brothers, L.P. Murphy and Lweis Murphy; grandchildren Michele Terry, Trey Baker, Mark Jarrett, Mandy Jarrett, Jennifer Mims, Dave Baker and Amber Baker; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, nieces and nephews and close family friends.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Lois Inez White and Marie Magahee.

Memorials may be made to the Coolidge Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Allen Funeral Home.

Gladys Chambers

Gladys Chambers, 95, formerly of Florala died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 in a Crestview, Fla. medical facility.

She was born on Oct. 7, 1907 to Anna and R. T. Justice. She married Arrie O. Chambers on March 21, 1921 and in their 59 years of marriage they raised four children, two daughters and two sons. Her husband died in 1984. Gladys was employed with the Franklin Ferguson Company in Florala for 30 years. She was a faithful member of the Damascus Baptist Church where she was the oldest member. In 1996 Gladys became a resident of a health care facility in Crestview, Fla.

Survivors include two daughters, W. Margie Watson and Naomi Anderson and husband Hubert of Florala; two sons, Glen Chambers and Lewie Chambers and wife Nell, all of Florala; brother, John Brown of Niceville, Fla; two sisters, Keena Mae Tranum and Eloise Dukes both of Andalusia, 17 grandchildren; 32great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 from the Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Elmer Davis officiating. Burial will be in Damascus Cemetery.

William Jefferson Jordan

William Jefferson Jordan, 88, of Andalusia died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at Wyatt Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be

Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow at Peaceful Acres Memorial in Opp.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1914 and was a veteran of the Air Force.

Survivors include a son, Billy Joe Jordan and wife Mary of Andaluisa; daughter, Sue Tilcock and husband Larry of Lewisville, Texas; two sisters, Kathleen Bishop of Birmingham and Mary Boyd of Alachus, Fla.; three grandchildren, James Jordan, William J. Jordan II and Tish Nix; two great-grandchildren, Adam Nix and Riley Nix.

Albert Baisden

Albert Baisden, 97, of Andalusia died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 in an Andalusia hospital.

He was born June 28, 1905 in Santa Rosa County, Fla., the oldest son of the late Brit Mathis Baisden and Josephine Adams Baisden.

He married Eula Mae Shehane December 22, 1927. They were married for nearly 62 years, until Eula's death in May 1989. Together they raised five children on the Covington County farm.

Albert was a member of Antioch Congregational Church. In addition to farming, he was a cotton ginner and an employee of the Untied States Department of Agriculture. His major interests were his family, friends, church and Masonic activities.

He is survived by two sons and three daughters, James K. Baisden (Elaine) of Alexandria, Va., Gene A. Baisden

(Reba) of the Straughn community, Martha N. Dye (Carl) Chattanooga, Tenn., Winnie M. Nall (Carol) of Brewton and Betty S. Cottle (Ted) of Gantt; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a son, Albert L. Baisden Jr.; two brothers and two sisters, Arthur M. Baisden, Louis A. Baisden, Lavonia A. Cottle and Verna R. Kuchko.

Funeral services for Mr. Baisden will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 at the Antioch Congregational Church with burial in the church cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing.

All Masons will meet at Harmony Lodge on Saturday at noon. All master Masons are invited to participate.

Pallbearers will included Keith Nall, Craig Cottle, Gary Cottle, Jamie Baisden, Ken Baisden and Jeremy Cottle.
