The Red Level Tigers earned a 78-68 win against the Opp Bobcats in boys' varsity basketball action Monday night.

Red Level went on top 18-12 in the first quarter and held a 33-24 lead at the half.

Frank Tolbert was the leading scorer for the Tigers with 24 points. Malcolm Lawson scored 17 points in the win. Russell Rigdon finished the game with 11 points. Justin Griggs hit for 10 points. Tim Ryce added 8. Will McInvale had 6. Chris Hendrix scored 2 points.

Opp's Emmanuel Lane led all scorers with 38 points in the game. Alphonso Harris added 8. Daniel Coleman scored 6. Mariel Mouth hit for 5. Rhett Barnes scored 4 points. Holt Parker scored 3 points. Tyrell Hunter had 2 points.

Opp's Lady Bobcats won the girls' game by a final score of 66-16.

Ashley Mock led the way for Opp with

24 points. Sasha Musgrove added 12 points. Trinity Osborn scored 10 points. Keisha Brannon had 5 points. Jessica Wood and Alexis Underwood had 4 points each. Natasha Archie scored 3 points. Janna Bush and Kim Crittenden scored 2 points each.

In the B-team game, Red Level won 40-23. Princeton Ryce, Calloway and Clay Marshall had 10 points each in the win.

Demaril Smith had 16 points for Opp.

The Red Level Tigers played the Luverne Tigers on Saturday and the varsity Tigers avenged a football loss in the semi-finals of the state playoffs with a 73-46 victory against Luverne on the hardwood.

Red Level went on top 14-10 in the first quarter and were ahead 30-22 at the half. In the third period, the Red Level Tigers scored 29 points to Luverne's 12 for a 59-34 lead. Red level coasted through the fourth for a 73-46 win.

Frank Tolbert paced the Red Level Tigers with 23 points. Larry Hudson hit for 17 points in the win. Russell Rigdon added 9 points. Will McInvale scored 8. Jermaine Jackson had 6 points. Eric Longmire and Randal Hunt had 3 points each. Malcolm Lawson and Justin Griggs had 2 points each.

Red Level fell in the B-team game by a final score of 45-31.

Clay Marshall had 17 points in the loss. Jonathan Griggs added 4 points. Andre Williams hit for 3 points. Princeton Ryce, Cody Ingram, Cale Nolen and Terrance Marshall had 2 points each.
