Bulldogs finish 11th at Blue-Gray

The Andalusia High School golf team finished tied for 11th out of 27 teams at the Blue-Gray Invitational in Montgomery earlier this week.

Freshman Rodger Caffey led the way for the Bulldogs with a two-day score of 144. He ended the Invitational tied for ninth place overall out of approximately 150 high school golfers.

St. Paul's out of Mobile won the Invitational.

The Bulldogs put together a team score of 311 on Monday when they played on the Wynlakes Golf and County Club course. The score was good enough to be tied for eight place going into the second day of the prestigious event.

Caffey had a one-over-par 73 on Monday to lead the way. Sophomore Mark Chambers added a 76 and sophomore Michael Frye's scorecard tallied up to 78. Senior David Kyle's 84 also figured into the Bulldogs' first-day score.

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs moved to the Lagoon Park course and ended their round with a

team score of 312.

Caffey once again had the low score with a one-under-par 71. Chambers shot a 76. Frye made his round in 79 strokes. Kyle completed the circuit with an 86.

The Bulldogs' two-day total added up for a score of 623 to tie for 11th.

The Bulldogs return to the links on Tuesday when they travel to Enterprise to battle Enterprise and Elba.

The Bulldogs' first home match is slated for Monday, March 24 at the Andalusia Country Club.
