Chris "Tank" Huckabaa broke a 0-0 tie with a three-run home run over the left center field fence at Johnson Park to give the Pleasant Home Eagles a 3-0 lead against the Florala Wildcats in high school baseball action Friday.

The game was one of two Covington County School System High School Baseball Tournament games played Friday.

The score was knotted at 0-0 until Huckabaa's blast in the bottom of the third inning.

Daniel Barrow reached base when he was hit by a pitch and then Scotty McCraney singled to set the stage for Huckabaa's homer.

The score remained 3-0 until the top of the sixth when the Wildcats pushed one run across the plate to cut the Eagles' lead to 3-1.

Robby Evans led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a stolen base and scored on a throwing error by the Pleasant Home catcher.

The Eagles responded with one run in the bottom of the sixth to stretch their lead back out to three runs.

Josh McCraney drew a walk in the bottom of the sixth and came around to score after Heath Rolling drew a walk and Daniel; Barrow reached on a fielding error by the Florala pitcher.

Florala failed to score in the top of the seventh as the Eagles held on for the win.

Brad Sanders started the game on the mound for the Eagles and went the distance. He allowed one run on six hits and no walks in seven innings of work. He struck out six.

Mark Geohagan pitched for the Wildcats and went six innings allowing four runs on nine hits and three walks. He struck out three.

The tournament continues today with games scheduled to be played at Red Level High School's baseball field. The first game is set for 10 a.m. and pits Pleasant Home against Straughn.

The second game, tentatively scheduled for 12:30 p.m., has the Wildcats going up against the Straughn Tigers.

The third and final game of the

day is set for 3 p.m. and pits the host Red Level Tigers against Florala.

The games will be moved to Johnson Park if there is heavy rainfall Friday night or Saturday morning and it leaves the field in Red Level in poor condition.
