A close game went to the home team in high school baseball action in Red Level on Monday.

The visiting Pleasant Home Eagles went on top early, but the homestanding Tigers clawed their way to the top and held on for a 6-5 win.

The Eagles scored in the top of the first when Troy Turman and Daniel Barrow scored. Issac Edgar had an RBI-single in the inning.

The Eagles' 2-0 lead was reduced to a one-run lead in the bottom of the first inning.

Red Level's Larry Hudson ripped a lead-off triple and scored on an RBI-hit by Kyle Skipper.

The score remained 2-1 in Pleasant Home's favor until the third inning when the Eagles added to their lead.

Turman reached on a walk, stole second, moved to third on a swinging bunt by Barrow and scored on an error.

Larry Tolbert answered for the Tigers in the bottom of the third inning with a run. He reached on a double and scored on an RBI-single by Skipper.

Tolbert's run got the Tigers within one run of the Eagles at 3-2.

The Eagles, however, did not like the Tigers that close to the bird cage and put some distance between them with one run in the top of the fourth inning.

Josh McVay scored the run as a pinch runner. Scotty McCraney had an RBI-single.

Chaz Maloy and Chris Johnson tied the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth when they scored for Red Level.

Maloy reached on a double and jogged home when Johnson belted a two-run home run.

Pleasant Home rebounded to go back on top in the top of the sixth inning when Edgar scored after reaching on a double. Scotty McCraney had an RBI-single.

Red Level scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth when Dusty Lee and Hudson scored. Tolbert had a two-RBI single in the inning.

Pleasant Home failed to score in the top of the seventh as Red Level held on for a 6-5 win.

Johnson was the winning pitcher. He went all seven innings and allowed five runs while striking out four.

Pleasant Home entered the game off a big area win. The Eagles topped Brantley 18-13 last Friday.

Chris "Tank" Huckabaa had a huge game going 5-for-5 at the plate with nine RBIs. He hit for the cycle and had a grand slam home run in the win. He scored three times.

Huckabaa was also the winning pitcher allowing one run on five innings of work off six hits and one walk. He struck out nine.

Josh McCraney also had a big game going 2-for-5 with two runs scored. He hit a two-run homer.

Pleasant Home plays again today at 5 p.m. in Samson.

Red Level's next game is next Monday against Pleasant Home.

The game will be played at Pleasant Home with the first pitch set for 4:30 p.m.
