Losing touch will be the hardest

The prospect of graduation brings many thoughts to my mind. Not only of the future but also the past.

I remember things that happened in elementary school and the people that it involved, and then I think that I may never see these people again, even though we have been in school together since kindergarten.

I remember the people who always made the class interesting by being the class clown, the people who always were the nicest, and the people who were always, well, not so nice.

Since we received our third quarter report card, school has been flying by. Of course, I am happy about this. For now.

With prom over, we only have about a month of school left until graduation on May 22. I am ready to get out of that place right now, even though I know that within a few months after I'm done with school, I will want to go back.

Graduation is going to be a sad time for some and nothing but a joy to others. Some of the students want to stay around here for a while, but some just can't wait to get out of this town. Some want to go straight to college, some want to wait, some just don't want to go, and some have other options in mind.

It is going to be sad to know that we won't see many of the people we graduate with ever again.

One of my friends is going into the Army about two weeks after graduation. Another one of my friends will be returning to her hometown. There are so many of the people I will graduate with. I probably won't ever even hear from then again.

Some of the people we have known for 13 or 14 years. Some of the people we don't really

know even though we have been classmates with them for this long. That is really sad to me.

I remember in fifth grade, we had a time for show and tell. One girl would always bring something about whales or dolphins. She loved sea animals. I still go to school with her, yet I still don't know her very well.

You see these people almost every day, except in the summer and on the weekends, but many of them never even take the time to get to know the people they have been around the longest.
