Lady Bobcats top Andalusia

Opp's Lady Bobcats pounced on the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs early scoring one run in the top of the second inning and three more in the third for a 4-0 lead.

Another run in the fourth gave the Lady Bobcats a 5-0 lead.

Andalusia answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Opp, however, continued to score. The Lady Bobcats stretched the lead to 7-3 in the top of the fifth inning.

Andalusia managed to score one run in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Opp added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning on the way to an 8-4 victory.

Ashley Mock, Meredith Mikel, Trinity Osborn, Tara Richburg and Kim Coxwell scored Opp's runs.

Andalusia's runs came from Heath Self, Ashley Johnson, Hayden Odom and Hannah Bush.

The loss was the third consecutive for the Lady Bulldogs.

Andalusia dropped both games of a doubleheader against Excel on Monday.

The Lady Panthers won the first game by a final score of 8-5. In the second game, the Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Bulldogs 11-0.

The Lady Bulldogs last win came on April 25 when they split with the Samson Lady Tigers.

Andalusia won the first game 2-1 with Lindsey Carr and Ashley Johnson scoring for the Lady Bulldogs.

Samson won the second game of the doubleheader by a final score of 5-2 with Bush and Katie Howell scoring the Lady Bulldogs' two runs.

The Lady Bulldogs are 12-12 on the season and return to action on Friday when they begin play in the Class 4A, Section 1 Tournament in Gulf Shores.

The Lady Bulldogs begin the sectional tournament with a game against Monroe County at 5 p.m.

The Opp Lady Bobcats begin their sectional tournament on Friday with a game against Geneva. The Lady Bobcats will be playing in the Class 4A, Section 2 Tournament.
