Bowlers take aim at league titles

Bowling league action continues to bring out the best in area participants as the season heats up.

MONDAY NIGHT BUSINESS LEAGUE

The Covington Casket Company team is in first place after six weeks of the 36-week season with 38 points. The How'd We Get Here team is in second with 30 points. The Outlaws are tied for third with the Good, Bad and Lucky team.

Toby Freeman had the top scores among the men last week with a 224 scratch game score and a 603 scratch series.

Dot Zaenger had the top scores among the women with a 219 scratch game score and a 566 scratch series.

TUESDAY NIGHT LADIES LEAGUE

The Bowl Webles are in first place with 22 points after four weeks of the 32-week season. The Advantage Realty team is in second with 20 points. The Huddle House squad is in third with 18 points.

Last week's top scores included two by Vicki Gaston with a 197 scratch game and 518 scratch series. Martha Duggan had the best handicap game score of the week with a 240. Maru Murphy posted the best handicap series with a 647.

SENIOR MIXED LEAGUE

The Angels are tied for first place with the Bowling Fools after five weeks of the 32-week season. The BMB team is in second.

Last week's top scores among the men included a 211 scratch game by Buddy Jay and a 556 scratch series. Skibo Wheeler had the best handicap scores among the men with a 240 handicap game and a 651 handicap series.

The women's top scores included a 167 scratch game by Bonnie Puckett and a 476 scratch series by Mary Jordan. Gwen Kelley had the best handicap game score among the women with a 242. Merle Little had a 665 handicap series for top honors last week.

THURSDAY MORNING COFFEE LEAGUE

The Monroe Ladies are in first place with 42 points after eight weeks of the 34-week season. The Unbalanced team is in second with 39 points. The Positive Bowlers are tied for third with the Loango Convenience team.

Vicki Gaston had two top scores last week with a 204 scratch game and 535 scratch series. Lucy Mahon had two top scores with a 242 handicap game and a 644 handicap series.
