Two high school football teams from Covington County are still in the state playoffs, but the rest of the high schools are gearing up for basketball season.

The Pleasant Home Eagles and Andalusia Bulldogs were both scheduled to begin the 2003-04 season tonight.

The Andalusia Bulldogs' home opener against the Ashford Yellow Jackets, however, has been cancelled. The Jackets lost a high school football playoff game on Friday and were not ready to play basketball tonight.

The Andalusia game at Enterprise scheduled for Friday, Nov. 14 is the new season-opening game for the Bulldogs. The Andalusia/Enterprise game, however, might also be cancelled.

The Pleasant Home Eagles begin the 2003-04 season tonight under first-year Head Coach Shane Varnadoe.

The Eagles were slated to play the Blue Eagles from W.S. Neal High School in East Brewton. The Blue Eagles are still playing football, having advanced to the second round of the playoffs, and will not play the Eagles tonight.

Instead, the Eagles will host the Kinston Bulldogs.

The B-team game will tip off the action at 4 p.m. followed by the varsity girls' game with the varsity boys' game slated to begin at approximately 7 p.m.

The Eagles' game against Opp scheduled for Friday has been cancelled.
