Early into the season, coach John Cheatham knew that for his Lady Panthers to win the area tournament that they were going to have to beat Flomaton. The first time the two teams met, the Lady 'Canes blew into Georgiana and blew out with a victory. When the Lady Panthers visited Flomaton, the Lady 'Canes defended their home court and sent the Lady Panthers back to Georgiana with a loss and the No. 2 seeding in the area.

"This is a big game for us," said John Cheatham, coach of the Lady Panthers said before the first time the Lady 'Canes and Lady Panthers met.

That's the way the region played out with Flomaton holding onto No. 1 and Georgiana at No. 2.

"Flomaton is our rival team and they've had a good team," said Cheatham earlier in the season.

"For the last couple of years and this year they seem to have a strong team. We are trying to work on our weakness, our guards are weak and we are trying to work on the press."

Before the Lady Panthers can look to a rematch with the Lady Cane's in the second round, they have a group of Lady Tigers to go through first.

The Lady Panthers and their male counterparts may be playing at different locations but they are playing host to the same team. The Panthers are playing the Red Level Tigers and the Lady Panthers are playing against the Red Level Lady Tigers.

Georgiana and the Lady Tigers have tangled twice this season with the Lady Panthers proving to be the victor both times.

But, according to Cheatham, the Lady Tigers have improved. Thursday night, he and the Lady Tigers will have the opportunity to find out if the rumors are true.

Georgiana and Red Level take the floor at 5:30 p.m. The winner of the game will receive an automatic bid into sub-regional competition.
