Saturday's championship against Flomaton didn't exactly turn out the way the Georgiana Lady Panthers had envisioned it. The game's result played out more like a worst-case scenario of girls' basketball. The Lady Hurricanes defended their home court and effectively took their opponents out of the equation and held them to 19 points.

"We didn't play very well," said Cheatham. We scored 18 points the whole ballgame and I don't think I've seen that the whole time I've been coaching. We couldn't do anything."

FHS's offense posted over 70 points and handily won the area championship.

"Not going to discount the fact that Flomaton has a strong team," said Cheatham. "They play physical and we don't like that."

That victory secured them home-court for the sub-regional game. Georgiana's loss put them on the road. The Lady Panthers will travel to Washington County for a rematch from last year's sub-regional with the Lady Indians.

"They should have the same people," said Cheatham. "They have one quick girl that can penetrate and dish. We were down 21

in the first and with 3 mins in the fourth we were up by 2. "

"They went up by 5 with free throws.

I'm trying to see if my seniors will stand up and lead, we haven't been able to determine a leader. No one is going to take that responsibility. We don't know who we are going to rely on."

Georgiana's sub regional game will be played on Thursday night. The winner will advance to the regional tournament at the University of South Alabama. The loser will be eliminated from the tournament.
