The Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church will hold its annual musical celebration on March 5 at 6 p.m. Special guests will be the Hickory Grove Baptist Church of Georgiana.

Greenville’s First Assembly of God is sponsoring the &uot;100 Men&uot; Challenge

on March 5 and 6. A children’s carnival will be held on March 5 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Confederate Park featuring refreshments, games, prizes and music, all free to the children of the community.

A meal for all area law enforcement

officers is slated for 1p.m. on Saturday at the church. A celebration service for the community

McKenzie High School Quarterback Club has a meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on

March 7 in the school auditorium.

March 8

The Greenville Kiwanis Club will meet March 8 at the new YMCA. The club will meet March 15, 22 and 29 at the Butler County Fairgrounds. All meetings will be held Tuesday at noon.

March 12

An heirloom quilt show and sale will be held Saturday, March 19, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Tom Harbin Ag Center in Luverne. Admission is $5. The deadline for entry is March 12. For more information contact Yvonne Johnson at 527-2123 or Ann Holland at 427-7000.

A benefit program for James Carter Jr. will be held at the Second Baptist Church in Georgiana on March 12 at 6:30 p.m. The featured group will be Gospel Harmonizing. All churches, choirs, groups and others are invited.

March 13

The Greenville Fine Arts League will hold their next meeting Sunday, March 13, at 2 p.m. at the Main Street office on Commerce Street.

March 17

The Butler Baptist Association will sponsor a Sunday School conference at Southside Baptist Church on Thursday, March 17, beginning at 6 p.m. The theme of the conference will be "Developing a Sunday School of Excellence." A meal will be served followed by a speach by Rick Ellison of the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. Age graded breakout conferences will follow for Sunday school teachers and workers with adults, youth, children and pre-schoolers. There will also be a conference for general leaders. A nursery will be provided. There are no fees or tickets required but churches are asked to contact the Butler Baptist Association at 382-2513 prior to March 10 to register.

The Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church will hold an Advanced Bible Study Institute every Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Lee Albert Moorer Jr. will be the instructor.

A brand-new Relay For Life team, the &uot;Bunco Babes&uot;, is now pre-selling

tickets for delicious barbecue chicken plates to raise funds for the annual American Cancer Society event.The plates, which feature chicken, bread, baked beans, dessert and a drink, are only $5 each. The First Baptist Church of Georgiana is now taking names and contact numbers for those wishing to order additional copies of their new "Country Cookin'" cookbook, which is now on re-order. Weight Watchers will start a new Community Workshop Program in Greenville on March 1 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the new YMCA. Each session is for ten weeks, with subsequent 10-week rollover sessions.
