The Fort Dale Eagles took to the courts for the second time this season when they traveled to Monroeville and faced the Vols of Monroe Academy. Fort Dale's women's team picked up the win while the guys team struggled before falling.

Individually, Andrew Jones, Stephen Butts and Conyers Poole picked up the victory for the guys.

"We've still got players that have been in Washington D.C. and have finished up with basketball so we aren't in our full tennis mode yet," said Johnny Mack Brown, coach of the Fort Dale Eagles. "But I think as the season goes on we'll get better and better. We've got one girl that hasn't finished her tryout yet. She's not in the top five this year but played No. 4 for us last year and really helped us out and I think that when she gets back we'll be even more solid. I'm really pleased with the teams, they are working hard

and we are getting better every day. Every bodies got a good attitude an I look forward to working with them each day."

Jones won 7-6, 7-2 and 6-2. Butts won 7-6, 6-3 and 6-1. Poole finished his match by knocking off Thomas Williams 6-1, 6-0. The men's team was on track to pick up the first win of the season, but losses in the two doubles matches put another L on the board.

On the female side of the court, Fort Dale swept in singles. Laura Skipper improved to 2-0 on the season, followed by win from Janie Mullins, Whitney Jacks, Kayla Butts and Renee Scott.

Skipper picked up the win over the girl that has been labeled her rival, Lauren Lazenby to the tune of 7-5 and 6-4. Mullins picked up her win in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 followed by Jacks allowing only one point, 6-0, 6-1.

Butts recorded the 7-5, 6-2 win and Scott won 6-0, 7-5.

Jacks and Butts combined to knock off Brittany Balliett and Ally Bishop 8-4 in doubles. The Eagles will be in action at home next week when they play host to Cottage Hill Christian on March 14 and then Crenshaw Christian on March 15. All matches will be played at the Beeland Park tennis complex.

The Fort Dale Golf Team was also in action last week. The Eagles were able to pick up wins over Monroe Academy, Sparta Academy and Mobile Christian Academy in a match played Monday in Monroeville.

As a team, the Eagles shot a 332. Individually, Will Farrar and Mason Bass shot an 80 and 81 respectively. Ben Bates posted a round of 84 followed by Lister Crosby's 87. The Eagles will be in action on March 17 when they travel to Macon-East Montgomery Academy.
