Georgiana#039;s Averett to be inducted in to Alabama H.S. Hall of Fame

Willie Averett of Georgiana is about to have something happen to him that not too many people will have opportunity to experience. On March 28, 2005, Averett will be inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Association's Hall of

Fame. Averett, from Georgiana coached and taught at J.F. Shields High School in Beatrice, Ala until his retirement. The school went on and named the gymnasium in his honor. Averett will be a part of the 15th class of inductees to go into the hall.

For those interested in attending this great honor, the schedule for March 28 will be a Noon luncheon for inductees and their spouse at the Embassy Suites in Montgomery. From there, the Inductees will go through an orientation and then be a part of the Open House sponsored by the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

At the 5:00 hour, the inductees will make their way to Garrett Coliseum for a special press conference.

Following the press conference, the public will once again have the opportunity to meet with the Class of 2005 inductees one final time before they are formally inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame.
