Easter Sunrise services will be held at Giddens Chapel Church located on Manningham Road, March 27 beginning at 6 a.m. Cletice Ingram from Clanton will be in charge of the services. Breakfast will follow in the fellowship hall.

April 1

The Greenville-Butler County Public Library is holding its annual book sale on Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2. Friday’s sneak preview runs from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a $5 admission fee charged. Saturday admission is free and the sale runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations taken through the day of event. April 2

The Butler County Optimist Club will be selling barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs, potato pies and cold drinks on Saturday, April 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Murphy's Pool Hall on Commerce Street. Proceeds from the sale will go to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

The Forest Home Volunteer Department has received a grant through the Montgomery Public Health Office to distribute free fire alarms to homes in the community lacking working alarms.

The safety drive kicks off at the &uot;Alarm-Arama&uot; scheduled for Saturday, April 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Forest Home V.F.D. Special safety programs are planned and the local dept. will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs and other refreshments. The Lomax-Hannon Alumni Association will hold its regular busines meeting on campus Saturday, April 2, at 10 a.m. All former students and gradutes are invited to attend.

McKenzie QB club is sponsoring a &uot;Touch of Broadway,&uot; Saturday April 2 at 7 p.m. Admission is $3 adults, $2 K-12 with proceeds going to McKenzie Athletics. The event will be held in the auditorium at MHS.

The Greenville Advocate, in conjunction with the Greenville Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business After Hours from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2005.

The Greenville Advocate recently completed a total renovation of its Hickory Street offices.

A emergency cell phone drive in underway for the Save-A-Life, Give-A-Phone foundation. Phones collected are refurbished to provide emergency access to battered women shelters, elderly and those in need. The local drop-off point for used phones is Walker Business Machines on East Commerce Strret.

A brand-new Relay For Life team, the &uot;Bunco Babes&uot;, is now pre-selling

tickets for delicious barbecue chicken plates to raise funds for the annual American Cancer Society event.The plates, which feature chicken, bread, baked beans, dessert and a drink, are only $5 each. The First Baptist Church of Georgiana is now taking names and contact numbers for those wishing to order additional copies of their new "Country Cookin'" cookbook, which is now on re-order. Weight Watchers will start a new Community Workshop Program in Greenville on March 1 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the new YMCA. Each session is for ten weeks, with subsequent 10-week rollover sessions.
