Golf courses along the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail are looking for golfers to pitch in the Hurricane Katrina relief drive by teeing it up.

Cambrian Ridge Golf Course is one of several courses along the trail, which will participate in a Hurricane Katrina Relief Tournament. The tournament at Cambrian Ridge is scheduled for Oct. 12 and it will be the only relief tournament in the central Alabama area.

Capitol Hill (Prattville) and the Grand National (Auburn) Golf Courses are not having relief tournaments.

The proceeds from the tournament are all donated to the Red Cross, said Danny Foster, who is sales and marketing manager at Cambrian Ridge.

"We know the money will be used in the right way," Foster said. "It's a good way for area golfers to give back."

The tournament, which will be a four-man scramble format, will tee off at 1 p.m. with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The entry fee is $100 per person, which includes 18 holes of golf, use of a cart, range balls, prizes and dinner after the tournament.

The tournament will be limited to the first 120 players who are registered. Registration deadline is Oct. 10.

"Our corporate office (Sunbelt Golf) asked each site to participate, so we jumped right on it," Foster said. "A lot of people from Mississippi and Louisiana come to play up here, so this is a way to give back to the people of that area."

Cambrian Ridge can identify with the devestation that has occurred along the Gulf Coast since it was a year ago on Friday that Hurricane Ivan came through Greenville.

"We lost more than 1,000 trees here, but that's a drop in the bucket compared to what they have lost down there," Foster said. "It's hard to imagine not having anything."
