MCKENZIE - Zion Chapel's Hunter Wise easily rushed for more than 100 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Rebels to their first win of the season in a 33-0 rout of McKenzie at Williams-Vickery Field.

The homestanding Tiger offense struggled all night to earn positive yardage. In fact McKenzie's offense reached Zion Chapel twice on Rebel turnovers.

"It's good that we finally got a win, but we committed too many turnovers tonight," Zion Chapel coach Harry Lees said.

Although the Rebels did have troubles holding onto the ball, it did seem to bounce their way throughout the game.

But the ball certainly wasn't bouncing McKenzie's way.

The Tigers (0-3) lost two players to injury for the remainder of the game. Running backs Jarrell Mobley and Curtis Ball had to leave the game. Ball went down in the first half with a deep thigh bruise, while Mobley had to be carried off the field on a stretcher after being clotheslined by a Zion Chapel defender.

With Mobley and Bell out, McKenzie's offense was all but put out of commission.

"With both of our running backs out, we were limited in what we could do," Tigers coach David Kirkland said.

Zion Chapel jumped out to an 18-0 lead by the half when Wise scored his second of three touchdowns on a 3-yard run up the gut of McKenzie's defense. His first score came with 7:15 left in the first quarter on a 4-yard run.

Even with the clock running in the second half, Wise and the Rebels were able to add to their winning talley.

Wise put the game away with a 6-yard run with 2:50 left in the third.

The outcome certainly wasn't what Kirkland had hoped for.

Basically the same team that lost to Zion Chapel Friday cruised to an easy win over Florala in a junior varsity contest on Monday night.

"I know I sound like a broken record when I say we are young," Kirkland said. "Now I think it's time we overcome being young."
