n Cultural Diversity Workshop

Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Greenville and Alabama Public Television are registering adults for a childcare workshop that deals with cultural diversity. You must preregister for the class by Oct. 20. The class will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Greenville campus of LBW. The class is free. n Flu vaccinations

The Butler County Health Department has set dates for flu vaccinations to be given to high-risk people only. The department, which is located in Greenville, will have vaccinations available 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 20. High-risk people are adults 65 or older, children age 6-23 months, residents of long-term care facilities, people with chronic health conditions, pregnant women, health care personnel who provide direct patient care and household contacts and out-of-home caregivers of children less than 6 months old. The vaccine will be available to the general population beginning Nov. 1.

n Board of Education Meeting

The Butler County Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the central office board room at 215 Administrative Drive in Greenville. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

n FFA Blood Drive

The Future Farmers of America will hold a blood drive at McKenzie School from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 20. Eligible donors are encouraged to give blood. For more information, contact the school at 374-2711.

n Gospel Singing

Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church will host a gospel singing at 7 p.m. Oct. 22. The singing will feature The Workmen Quartet with J.G. Whitfield. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

n Fall Banquet

The Butler County Civic League will hold its annual Fall Banquet at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Dunbar Recreation Center in Greenville. Tickets can be purchased for $20 per person and a table of six can be reserved for $120. Alabama Secretary of the State Nancy Worley will be the guest speaker. n Appreciation Day

The House of Prayer Holiness Church will have an appreciation day for their musicians at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 23. Pastor Kenneth Faison of the Pentecostal #2 COGIC will be a guest speaker. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.

n Stinson Family Reunion

The annual Stinson family reunion will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Booker's Mill in Evergreen Oct. 23. &#8220Dinner on the ground” lunch will be served at noon. A 10:30 a.m. church worship service will be conducted at Barnwood Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Libba Stinson conducting the service. Country western stars Glenn and Kitty will provide entertainment in the afternoon.

n Butler County College/Career Day

Butler County College/Career Day, which is held at Greenville High School for Georgiana High School, Greenville High School and McKenzie School seniors and juniors, will be Oct. 25.

n W. O. Parmer Fall Festival

W. O. Parmer Elementary School is having its annual Fall Festival on Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on the Greenville High School Football Field. There will be lots of fun and games for the family. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for school-aged children. n Ladies Bible Study

Beth Moore will lead a ladies bible study from 10-11-30 a.m. Oct. 27 in the fellowship hall at First Presbyterian Church. A nursery will be provided for young children. Visitors are invited and encouraged to attend.

n Butler County Old Time Farm Day

n Gospel Singing

McKenzie Baptist Church will be host to a gospel singing led by The Johnson Trio of Brantley. The singing will begin at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served immediately following the singing.

n Homecoming

The First Baptist Church of Georgiana invites everyone to attend the church's homecoming celebration 11 a.m. Oct. 30. A dedication ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. for the new church building. There will be a covered-dish supper between services.

n County Commission

The meeting time for the Butler County Commission's regularly scheduled second-Monday meetings has been changed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Workshops for each regularly scheduled meeting will still be held on the prior Thursday at 6 p.m.

n Athletic Club Meeting

The public is invited to participate in the weekly scheduled Greenville High Athletic Club meetings at 6 p.m. each Monday in the high school cafeteria. The public is encouraged to attend and share ideas toward building a championship-level athletic department.

n 21st Century Afterschool Program

The Butler County Board of Education will be offering a 21st Century Afterschool Program for K-8th grade students Monday-Friday until 5 p.m. at W.O. Parmer, Greenville Elementary, and at the Education and Community Center for Greenville Middle School students.

Certified teachers assist with homework and offer learning activities which are fun and educational. Tuition is $25 per month. Registration forms are available at each of the sites.

n GHS Child Care

Greenville High School Child Care is accepting applications for the 3- to 4-year-old daycare program for 2005-2006 school year.

The Lowndes-Butler County men's interdenominational prayer breakfast is held at 8 a.m. each Wednesday at Priester's Pecans in Fort Deposit.
