Deciding what you want to do with the rest of your life can be a very daunting task, one that each and every one of us has thought about at one time or another. When you're a junior or senior in high school, you usually have a good idea about the road you wish to travel. However, not all juniors and seniors know what they want to do after graduation.

This past Tuesday, Oct. 25, Greenville High School hosted

Butler County's annual College/Career Day, and they invited many colleges, all branches of the military, and area businesses to attend. These representatives brought all kinds of scholarship and admission information, plus career and technical school information to share with our juniors and seniors.

So many young people today have access to websites and information on all kinds of post-secondary institutions on the Internet, but they may not know exactly where to look to find answers to specific questions they may have. Also, many of the students may not have access to home computers or the available transportation to visit college campuses in the local area much less around the state of Alabama.

The College/Career Day provided much-needed information and contact with post-secondary institutions, technical schools and the military.

We applaud Pat McNaughton, GHS counselor, for her efforts in coordinating this event. We also applaud Tomesha Cheeseboro, GHS counselor, Cassandra Freeman, Georgiana High School counselor, and Carol Williams, McKenzie High School counselor, for the guidance they offer every day to our students.
