October 24-28 has been declared National Red Ribbon Week.

This year’s drug-free motto is “United We Stand for a Drug Free Land.”

Following are some daily activities in which Crenshaw County Schools will engage:

n Thursday, Oct. 20: Advisory Council Meeting At the Crenshaw Board of Education’s Board Room, 4 PM

n Friday, Oct. 21: Red Ribbon Decoration Day

n Monday, Oct. 24: Schools are encouraged to make a “Boot Out Drugs Day” with everyone wearing boots.

n Tuesday, Oct. 25: Schools are encouraged to host a Red Day or Red Rally where everyone is encouraged to wear red - red socks, red hats, red shirts, maybe even red face paint.

n Wednesday, Oct. 26: Schools are asked to wear the craziest ties they can find for a “Tie One On Against Drugs” event.

n Thursday, Oct. 27: Schools are encouraged to hold a “Sock It To Drugs Day” and ask everyone to wear the craziest socks they can find.

n Friday, Oct. 28: Red Ribbon drawings for items donated by local merchants will be conducted at the pep rally.

All Crenshaw County students will wear red ribbons donated by the Alabama National Guard.

“We encourage all churches and businesses to display a red bow on their door or marquee,” stated Randy Wilkes, Crenshaw County Schools Drug-Free Coordinator.

“Churches can further participate by placing a message in their church bulletin.”
