It's that time again – time for all book lovers to mark their calendars for one of Greenville's most eagerly anticipated events of the year.

The Greenville-Butler County Public Library is once again hosting its Annual Used Book Sale, slated for Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8, at the library.

The preview sale kicks off at 5 p.m. and runs until 6:30 p.m. on Friday, with an admission charge of $5 giving patrons

&#8220first dibs” on the literary treasure trove.

The sale continues at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning and runs until 2 p.m.

Admission on Saturday is free.

Prices on either day are a &#8220real bargain,” Burke McFerrin, head librarian says, with hardback books just $1 and paperbacks only 50 cents each.

&#8220Prices do fall during the day on Saturday.

Those willing to take their chances on that Tom Clancy or Elizabeth George still being there can wait and see ‘how low they will go,'” McFerrin said with a grin.

As the event approaches, the library staff is busy sorting through donations and getting prepared for the sale, and McFerrin says they can use your help.

Whether you are an empty nester with children's books just collecting dust, or have more mystery novels, cookbooks and how-to manuals than you can possibly shake a stick at, rest assured – the library staff is ready and willing to take your donations.

&#8220We appreciate any and all donations, including books for children, teens, and adults, novels of every genre, old textbooks, cookbooks, even used DVDs, CDs, video and audio cassettes and sheet music,” Burke McFerrin, head librarian, said.

The library's annual book sale offers multiple benefits to the community, McFerrin said.

&#8220This is an excellent opportunity for many people to build their personal libraries at a very reasonable cost. It also gives folks a chance to clean out some of the clutter they may have at home – and books should never be thrown away. Let someone else enjoy them,” the librarian said.

&#8220Finally, the used books sale raises much-needed funds for the library

– funds that allow us to purchase equipment and supplies for our patrons, above and beyond our budget constraints.”

Donations for the book sale can be dropped off during the library's normal hours Monday through Saturday and will be taken right up to the day of the sale.
