Two local musicians – one, a gifted amateur, the other, a professional singer-songwriter and music teacher – will be &uot;pickin’ and grinnin’&uot; in Confederate Park Thursday night.

Steve Norman and Rock Killough are returning this week to entertain an outdoor crowd for Main Street’s Concert in the Park series. The concert is slated to kick off at 6:30 p.m. in the park and the performance is free.

Steve Norman, Butler County’s probate judge, is a long-time music lover.

His former guitar teacher, Rock Killough, whose songs have been recorded by legendary performers such as Randy Travis and The Oak Ridge Boys, has retired from the road. He currently manages the Ritz Theatre and teaches guitar and songwriting classes at LBWCC in Greenville.

&uot;We know both Steve and Rock have lots of fans in the area and we hope plenty of them will turn out to enjoy a great performance this Thursday night,&uot; Nancy Idland, Main Street executive director, said.

This will be the third concert in the Main Street series. Tom Gassaway, versatile saxophonist, kicked off the season with his renditions of standards, show tunes and pop hits.

Local favorite Sabrina Snell Reynolds shared her rich and resonant voice last week, singing contemporary Christian and gospel songs last week for concert attendees.

&uot;We appreciate all our performers for their willingness to donate their time and talents and remind everyone these concerts are totally free. The flowers are blooming, the park is lovely and the talent is there to be enjoyed – come and join us,&uot; Idland said.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets; pets on leashes are also welcome.
