Vinson leads Twins in win over Yanks

Harper Vinson cracked a two RBI triple in the third inning to lead the Twins to a 8-3 win in Dixie Minors action Thursday. The win keeps the Twins record unblemished at 7-0.

The Yankees (2-5) got on the board first when, after reaching on a single, Dalton Hood scored on a wild pitch by Twins starter Brady Edge. Jeffery Register walked, stole a base and scored to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead, but it wouldn't last long as the Twins plated three with Roscoe Moorhead, Edge and J.C. Poole all crossing the plate in the bottom of the first.

The Yankees were able to score again in the fourth when John Dunn scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a single, but Edge hit a two-out single and later scored. The Twins added two more runs in the fifth when Dalton Weeks and Samuel Harris scored after being walked.

n In other Minors action Chip Taylor fanned 11 batters and Michael Myers homered to lead the Astros to a 6-0 win over the Red Sox. The win runs the Astros record to 5-2 on the season. Others scoring runs for the Astros were Luke Hamm, Taylor, Chase Whiddon and Donte Lee, who all scored in the first inning with Lavares Peagler scoring in the fifth inning.

n The Orioles exploded for 12 runs in the first inning to take a 14-4 win over the Braves. Shane Holcombe struck out eight batters and posted two singles in the win. Toby King went three-for-three with two singles and a double and scored two runs, while Timmy Gorum, Colby Booker, Cade Tillery Payton Frazier, McKinley Lee, Tevail Snipes, Alex Barrett and Zach Grider all crossed the plate for the Orioles.

Curt Davis paced the Braves with a home run in the third, with Cole Davis, Anthony Dunbar and Hudson Branum all scoring runs.
