Confederate Park will be a star-spangled spot next Monday, May 29, as the Greenville Lions bring the 2nd Annual Memorial Day Celebration to the Camellia City.

The event kicks off at 10:00 a.m.

Attendees can enjoy local talents sharing &#8220down-home” music and fun children's activities.

Everyone can enjoy a picnic lunch with cold drinks, hot-off-the-grill burgers and hot dogs prepared by the Lions chief chef, Jeff Adams and fellow Lion volunteers, courtesy of Greenville Wal-Mart and other local vendors.

At noon, a ceremony will be held featuring recognition of all county veterans, particularly those of the Korean War.

Colonel Eric Cates of Greenville will share the impact that conflict had on the county residents who served in what is sometimes called &#8220the forgotten war.”

Keynote speaker will be Emory Folmar, former mayor of Montgomery and a decorated Korean War veteran. Local ministers, musicians and vocalists will also take part in the ceremony.

Following the program, a flyover of a vintage Navy SNJ is slated to take place. A Veterans' Walk of Honor is also planned. The day will wrap up at 2 p.m.

&#8220This is an event for all ages and we want local veterans and families of veterans to join us on Monday for a wonderful, special day in the park,” Lion Herbert Morton said.
