Astros#039; Whiddon strikes out 11

Chip Taylor's third-inning triple and fourth-inning double helped catapult the Dixie Minor Astros to victory over the Twins May 18, 10-2.

Taylor finished the night 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored. Teammates Gavin McKenzie and Triston Stinson also had big nights, with McKenzie going 2-for-2 at the plate and Stinson scoring two runs off three walks.

Harper Vinson, Michael Smith, Brady Edge and Dalton Weeks each had a hit for the Twins.

Chase Whiddon picked up the win for the Astros with 11 strikeouts while Edge struck out nine batters in the loss.

Yankees 10, Braves 1

Jeffrey Fuller's 3-for-3 night at the plate, coupled with his fourth-inning home run blast, helped launch the Yankees to victory over the Braves May 18, 10-1.

The Yankees got off to a hot start by scoring five runs in the first inning, and finished the game off strong in the fourth inning with singles by Caleb Christ and Daniel Hill, along with Jeffrey Register's triple and Fuller's blast.

Adam Brown led the Braves offensively with a double, triple and the lone run scored. J.T. Thomas, Will Davis and Clem Cole also each had a hit.

Hall earned the win for the Yankees, while also striking out 13 batters.

Orioles 9, Red Sox 0

Toby King, Cade Tillery and Payton Frazier each had two hits apiece May 18 as the Orioles blanked the Red Sox, 9-0.

King and Tillery had back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning while King, Tillery and Timmy Gorum each scored two runs in the winning effort.

Blake Harris, Ryan Burkett and Brandon Miller each added a hit for the Red Sox.

King earned the win for the Orioles, while also going the distance and striking out nine batters.
