Jerome Cook's 2-for-3 night at the plate was just enough for the Dixie Youth White Sox to squeak by the Red Sox May 16, 4-3.

Stephen Till, Ryan Taylor and Dalton Burns each went 2-for-3 for the Red Sox, but it wasn't enough. Till and Burns each had a home run for the Red Sox, with Till's coming in the first inning and Burns' coming in the sixth.

Burns struck out 14 White Sox batters, even though he picked up the loss. Charlie Scofield picked up the win for the White Sox, striking out eight batters.

A's 7, Braves 2

Mitch Young, Brian Smith, Ray Moody and Brandon Smith each went 2-for-3 at the plate May 16 to lead the A's over the Braves 7-2.

Young, Moody and Smith each had a double on the night, with Smith adding a three-run home run blast in the first inning. Brian Kirby also had two RBI's following his third-inning triple.

Jackson Mims led all Braves offensively with two hits, while Hunter Armstrong and Scott Bentley each had a hit.

Both A's pitcher Levi Roy and Braves pitcher Cody Tesmer each had 11 strikeouts, with Roy earning the win.
