On Wednesday, June 21, 2006, the Family Sunshine Center will join the Crenshaw County Domestic Violence Task Force in hosting a training conference for local salon professionals at the Harrison Cultural Center in Luverne. The one-hour seminar titled &#8220Cut it Out” will train stylists to recognize the warning signs of family violence and to safely refer clients to local resources.

&#8220Cut it Out” was conceived and first implemented in 2002 in the state of Alabama by the Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham in collaboration with the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence. It has become a national program of the Salons Against Domestic Abuse Fund dedicated to mobilizing salon professionals and others to fight the epidemic of domestic abuse in communities across the United States.

The Crenshaw County Domestic Violence Task Force is a group of local individuals who meet together to combat domestic violence in their communities.

Members include representatives from education, healthcare, the legal community, law enforcement, the courts, the housing community, victim's advocacy and survivor groups, social services, business, industry, local government, community services groups, the concerned public and the news media. The meetings are held each month at 10 a.m., generally on the third Thursday of the month at the John D. Harrison Cultural Center in Luverne.

The Family Sunshine Center is a non-profit agency that provides counseling, shelter, hope and healing to victims of domestic violence in Autauga, Butler, Crenshaw, Chilton, Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery counties.
