Chamber prepares for grand Fourth

The Glorious Fourth is right around the corner, and local citizens will once again have the chance to celebrate early in grand style.

The Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce is joining with local sponsors to bring &#8220Celebrate America” back to the Camellia City this summer.

The star-spangled event is slated to kick off at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 1 at Greenville High School's Tiger Stadium.

&#8220We have many of the same activities planned again this year. But we also some new things for people to enjoy,” Carol Lee, GACOC director said.

Once again, live entertainment, games, contests and southern cooking, capped off with a fireworks display, are all on tap for attendees. The fireworks are slated for 9 p.m. with plenty of

stadium seating available for a great view of the show.

&#8220The stadium will be open. People are welcome to sit on the bleachers and eat or they can bring their lawn chairs and find a spot in the parking lot to relax,” Lee said.

The Kando Band will be returning to play plenty of up-tempo golden oldies for the crowd.

Cool treats such as shaved ice cones will be offered by the Greenville YMCA, with burgers and other menu items in the works as well.

&#8220We are looking forward to really fun and patriotic evening for the whole family once again,” Lee said.
