The Greenville Dixie Minors All-Star team remained unbeaten in tournament play this weekend by downing Elba, 12-2, and Geneva, 9-4, in the District Tournament in Geneva.

After a bye Monday night, Greenville returns to action Tuesday night and Wednesday night to determine the final game.

In the game against Elba, Greenville scored one run over each of the first two innings but then exploded for five runs in the third to secure the victory.

Chip Taylor was the leading hitter for Greenville with three hits and three runs scored, including a pair of doubles.

Toby King, Cade Tillery, Chase Whiddon, Harper Vinson and Roscoe Moorhead each had two hits apiece, with King finishing with a triple and a double and Tillery with a fifth-inning double.

John Dunn, Ryan Burkett and Brady Edge also each had a hit, with Dunn's coming as a fifth-inning double.

Taylor led all scorers with three runs while King, Tillery and Moorhead each scored two runs apiece.

Vinson, Edge and Payton Frazier also each scored a run for the winning team.

For Elba, Cobe Goosby, Logan Bailey, Garret Smith and Justin Pope each scattered a single. Bailey and Smith scored Elba's only two runs.

Dunn earned the win for Greenville while he, Taylor, Moorhead and King combined to throw 14 strikeouts. Pope picked up the loss for Elba.

Greenville 9, Geneva 4

Cade Tillery was 2-for-3 with a home run and a triple in the second game to down the host team Geneva, 9-4.

Greenville scored five runs in the first inning and then three in the third inning to hold onto the win.

Chip Taylor was the next leading hitter for Greenville with a pair of singles while Toby King, John Dunn, Ryan Burkett, Harper Vinson and Daniel Hall Autrey each finished with a single.

Taylor was the leading scorer for Greenville with three runs scored. King and Tillery each finished with a pair of runs scored while Dunn and Burkett each scored one.

Scott Stough was the leading hitter for Geneva with a third-inning double. Jordan Smith and Chase Clemons each also had a hit.

Dunn earned the win for Greenville with four strikeouts in three innings of work while Taylor and Tillery came on in relief for the final three innings. Smith picked up the loss for Geneva in two innings of work.
