After falling to Luverne and taking second place in the Sub-District tournament, the Greenville Dixie Youth All-Star team got its revenge Monday night in the District tournament in Elba and moved one step closer to the State tournament by scoring six runs in the fifth inning to power its way by Luverne, 8-1.

Greenville continues tournament play this week with the championship game wrapping up Wednesday or Thursday if necessary.

Skylar McKeown, Mitch Young, Andy Burns, Charlie Scofield, Briar Kirby and Wesley Hendrix each reached base and scored in the fifth inning to blow the game wide open and Greenville never looked back.

Hunter Armstrong and Raymond Moody led Greenville offensively with a hit apiece. Moody and Dalton Burns scored the remaining two runs for Greenville.

For Luverne, Sexton had the only hit while King scored the only run.

McKeown picked up the one-hit win and finished with 12 strikeouts.

Greenville 10, Brantley 0

Cody Tesmer was 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and two runs scored in the first game of the tournament to lift Greenville over Brantley, 10-0.

Greenville got off to hot start by scoring five runs in the second inning and then backed that up with three runs in the fourth.

Hunter Armstrong, Stephen Till, Skylar McKeown, Mitch Young, Briar Kirby, Wesley Hendrix and Ryan Taylor each added a hit in the win, with Young's hit coming as a second-inning grand slam.

Tesmer, McKeown and Young led all scorers with two apiece while Brandon Matthews, Dalton Burns, Armstrong and Taylor each added one run.

For Brantley, Reed Kilmore had the only hit.

Armstrong picked up the win for Greenville with McKeown and Till coming in for relief. Hill picked up the loss for Brantley.

Greenville 10, Elba 0

Greenville scored seven runs in the second inning Saturday to hold off Elba, 10-0.

Skylar McKeown had a huge night for Greenville, finishing 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs.

Raymond Moody and Ryan Taylor also had two hits apiece, including Moody's pair of doubles.

Hunter Armstrong, Stephen Till, Brandon Matthews, Mitch Young, Briar Kirby, and Wesley Hendrix each added a hit in the win.

Armstrong led all scorers with three runs while McKeown, Hendrix and Taylor each added two runs apiece.

Moody, Young, Charlie Scofield and Kirby also each scored a run in the win.

For Elba, Seth Handley scored the only run even though no Elba batters got a hit.

Till earned the win for Greenville with Moody, Dalton Burns and Cody Tesmer each coming in for relief. Austin Johnson picked up the loss for Elba.
