n Providence UMC Homecoming and Revival

Providence United Methodist Church of Georgiana will be having Homecoming and Revival Services beginning Sunday, Aug. 13. Sunday service will be at 11 a.m. Evening services will be 7 p.m. Sunday night through Wed. night with Rev. Alvin Blackburn and Rev. JW Land bringing the message each night.

Special music each evening: Sun. night, Jennifer McInvale and Lynn Nelson, Mon, night, Elaine McMillan, Tue. Night, Alvin and Linda Blackburn, Wed. night, Willie and Wanda Stinson.

n Hickory Grove Family and Friends Day

Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Georgiana, Rev. Jerome L. Milton Sr., pastor, will host a Family and Friends Day August 13, 2006. Rev. Harold Daniels, pastor of The New Beginning Full Gospel Church in Greenville will be the afternoon speaker at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

n Forest Home Homecoming/Revival

Forest Home Baptist Church will host homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow and evening services starting at 6 p.m. Revival will be held the following week, Monday through Wednesday with services starting at 6:45 p.m., the Rev. ‘Nap' Granade – speaker. There will be special music for each service and all are invited to attend.

n Old Elam Homecoming and Revival

The Annual Homecoming and Revival Services of the Old Elam Baptist Church are slated for Sunday, Aug. 13 through Friday, Aug. 18. The speaker for the Sunday 2 p.m. service will be Rev. L.L. Brown Jr., pastor of Baptist Hill Baptist Church of Lowndesboro. Evangelist for the week will be Rev. Raymond Thomas, pastor of Lily Hill Baptist Church of Prattville. Services begin each night at 7:30 p.m. Pastor John McMeans and the Old Elam Church Family invite everyone to attend.

n Board of Education Meeting

The Butler County Board of Education will conduct its next regular meeting on Thursday, August 17 at 7 p.m. at the Butler County Board of Education Central Office Boardroom located at 215 Administrative Drive, Greenville, AL.

The public is encouraged to attend.

n Mt. Pleasant Homecoming

Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Georgiana, will celebrate Homecoming at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2006. Randy Tucker, former pastor, will bring the morning message. There will be no Sunday School or evening services. Lunch will follow in the fellowship hall. Travis Johnson, interim pastor, invites everyone to come and worship during this special time.

Cemetery Association Meeting

A meeting of the Concord Cemetery Memorial Association is set for Saturday, August 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Tabernacle Church. All interested persons are cordially invited to attend and bring a picnic lunch.

After lunch, everyone is invited to tour the cemetery and help in clean-up work. Wear suitable clothing and walking shoes.

Tabernacle Church is located on the Old Federal Road and can be reached from Interstate 65 via the Tyson Exit (drive over the freeway and head East if coming southbound), go down Cloverfield Road (SH 24), turn right on the Old Federal Road and in about two miles, you'll see Tabernacle Church on the right.

Pastor Mark Hawkins and the Sweet Home A.M.E. Zion Church invite you to come and worship with them in their Homecoming and Revival Services, August 30 through September 3. Revival services are Wed. This year's Pierce Family Reunion will be held at the Georgiana Multi-Purpose Senior Center on Palmer Ave in Georgiana. This is like any family reunion – lots and lots of good food. The Greenville Chess Club meets on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Butler Baptist Associational Office, 309 South Pine Street.

n County Commission

The meeting time for the Butler County Commission's regularly scheduled second-Monday meetings has been changed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Workshops for each regularly scheduled meeting will still be held on the prior Thursday at 6 p.m.

n Athletic Club Meeting

The public is invited to participate at scheduled Greenville High Athletic Club meetings at 6 p.m. every other Monday in the high school cafeteria. The public is encouraged to attend and share ideas toward building a championship-level athletic department.

n 21st Century After School Program

The Butler County School System will offer after school programs for K-8th grade students beginning August 14. Programs are available Mondays – Fridays through 5 p.m. for $25 per month at each of the following schools:

W.O. Parmer, Greenville Elementary, Greenville Middle, R.L. Austin, and Georgiana High (7th & 8th grades). Registration is available at the school offices, at the Education & Community Center, and at www.butlerco.k12.al.us
