Holly Nichole Wilkes and Thomas McBride Newton Jr. exchanged wedding vows in an afternoon ceremony at Union Hill Methodist Church in Troy, June 10, 2006.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carnell Wilkes of Troy. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Newton Sr. of Greenville.

The officiant of the traditional double-ring ceremony was Rev. Gerald Maddox.

Mr. Ronnis Fails presented a selection of pre-nuptial music. David Cleckler sang &#8220Time After Time.” The groom joined the musicians on guitar and played &#8220My Jesus Loves.”

White bows decorated the railings at the entrance to the sanctuary. Arrangements of hydrangeas, black-eyed susans, Queen Anne's lace, zinnias and other summer flowers were on each side of the altar. An illuminated white cross hung on a wall behind the altar and served as a backdrop to the ceremony.

Given in marriage by her grandfather, the bride wore a formal chiffon sheath with beaded spaghetti straps and a beaded empire waist. The back featured cascading ruffles and a sweep train. A fingertip veil was chosen by the bride. Pearl earrings and a pearl necklace were worn to compliment her dress. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses.

Maid of honor was Catherine Wilkes of Troy, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaid was Mickey Ward of Troy, also cousin of the bride. Bride's matrons were Peytie Cole and Nancy Hartley, sisters of the groom, both of Greenville, and Jennifer Piggott, also from Greenville.

All carried white roses tied with white ribbons.

Flower girls were Camille Kelly, cousin of the bride, and Emma Cleckler. They carried white baskets containing white rose petals, which were scattered down the aisle before the bride entered the sanctuary. &#8220Dance With My Father” was the bridal march.

The groom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Chad Daniel of Montgomery; Bodie Pickens of Burnt Corn; Slade Piggott of Greenville and Randall Rowe of Columbus, Ga.

The grandmother of the bride chose a tea-length dress in lavender. The mother of the groom selected a tea-length dress in yellow. They wore corsages of purple-throated orchids.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church. Arrangements of summer flowers were placed at focal points in the fellowship hall.

The bride's table held the three-tiered wedding cake decorated with red roses, which also encircled the cake. Joy Taylor and Gloria Wilkes served the bride's cake. On the table, childhood photos of the bride were featured.

The groom's table held a two-tiered chocolate cake. The rectangular cake featured milk chocolate frosting with dark chocolate icing drizzling down from the edges of its tiers. A pair of dark chocolate candy guitars flanked each side of the cake. Strawberries dipped in dark chocolate adorned the top of the cake, with fresh fruit and greenery encircling it.

Peytie Cole, sister of the groom, served the groom's cake. Crystal appointments held white mints. The groom's table also featured his own childhood photos.

An assortment of finger foods were also offered at the reception, along with punch served by Kayla and Katie Boutwell, cousins of the bride.

After a wedding trip to Destin, the couple is residing in Montgomery, where the groom serves as a systems analyst for Alfa Financial Corporation and Holly is a clerical assistant at the law firm of Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methrin, Portis and Miles, P.C.
