Brooks Assembly of God will be having a Boston Butt Sale and Yard Sale on Sat., Sept. 2. Boston Butts will be $20 each and ready for pick-up around 8 a.m. at the barbecue pit at the new church. Offices will be close on Monday, September 4 for Labor Day. If your garbage is scheduled for pickup on Monday, it will be picked up on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

n American Legion Meeting

The American Legion Post 24, Greenville Alabama, will meet at 1900 hours on 7 September 2006. The Legion meet the first Thursday of each month. All veterans are welcome. District 34 Commander, W.C. n Hopewell Homecoming

The HopeWell A.M.E. Zion Church Old Stage Road North (Secary Community) in Greenville will have their Homecoming and Revival starting Sunday Sept. 10 at 2:30 p.m. The afternoon speaker will be Elder Howard Jones and the New Hope Christian Church family of Calhoun.

Weekly service will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 11-14. Speaker for the week will be Elder Dale Braxton, Pastor of the Snow Hill Christian Church Mt. Willing.

n Chapman COG Revival

Radio evangelist and gospel recording artist Blu Braden will be at the Chapman Church of god Sept. 10 -15. Services slated for 11 a.m. Sunday morning and 7 p.m. Sunday night through Friday night, with special music each evening. A gospel singing is planned on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m.

The Greenville Area Arts Council will be holding an open casting call for all interested in performing in next March's gala benefit show. Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Alabama is accepting applications for its fall registrations at all six locations – Greenville, Hayneville, Collirene-Rudolph, Prattville, Billy Thames Boys & Girls Club in the Regency Park Community, and William ‘Kid' Franklin.

If you have a child between 6-18 years of age in need of a structured, educational, recreational, and safe after-school environment, the Boys & Girls Club of South Central Alabama is the place to be.The fall program offers arts and crafts, character and leadership development, prevention, educational, sports and fitness, and recreation programs are offered in a non-violent and drug free environment. n Disabled American Veterans seek new members

The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 67 is seeking new members. The unit meets every fourth Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Building at the Butler County Fairgrounds.

The unit also has a junior program for ages newborn to age 17.

The unit won first place for community service in the 10 to 50-member category at state competition. Unit 67 Commander is Alberta Johnson.

n Free Tutoring Classes

&#8220Every Child Deserves A Chance” is now offering free tutoring classes in the areas of reading, English and math on Mondays and Wednnesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Greenville Housing Authority Recreation Room to students enrolled in Butler County Schools in grades K-12. The ADPE through the LBWCC Adult Education Consortium is offering classes for adults who did not complete their high school education or need to strengthen educational and job skills.

n County Commission

The meeting time for the Butler County Commission's regularly scheduled second-Monday meetings has been changed from 10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Workshops for each regularly scheduled meeting will still be held on the prior Thursday at 6 p.m.

n Athletic Club Meeting

The public is invited to participate at scheduled Greenville High Athletic Club meetings at 6 p.m. every other Monday in the high school cafeteria. The public is encouraged to attend and share ideas toward building a championship-level athletic department.
