Greenville man dies after bicycle hit by traffic

A 46-year-old Greenville man was killed when the Roadmaster bicycle he was riding was struck by oncoming traffic along Highway 10 west of Greenville on Saturday.

Alabama State Troopers are still investigating the accident which took place at 7:28 p.m. Saturday night and resulted in the death of Albert Powell.

Other drivers involved in the accident were Willie C. Benbow, 75, of McKenzie who was driving a 2003 Mercury Marquis, and Marjeita N. Posey, 20, of Greenville who was driving a 2001 Nissan Altima.

Neither Benbow or Posey were injured in the accident.

Powell's body was transported to Hudson Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Powell will be held on Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. from Shady Grove Baptist Church in Thomasville. Burial will follow in Almount Cemetery.
