Autumn usually means plenty of outdoor activities and this year is no exception in and around Greenville. You can enjoy hot chocolate at a Friday night football game, catch a scare at the local haunted house, or groove to some down home blues while enjoying a tasty helping of barbecue.

Friday night lights: There's still time to catch one of our four local teams in action as the end of the regular season draws near before the start of the playoffs. Greenville hosts Charles Henderson at home (Oct. 27) and McKenzie's final two games are at home as well (vs. Florala Oct. 27, Red Level, Nov. 3). Fort Dale plays at home against Lowndes for a Thursday night contest on Oct. 26, while Georgiana travels in its final two games, (at Excel, Oct. 27, and at Hillcrest, Nov. 3).

Fright factory: The Greenville Firefighters Association Haunted Firehouse is open tonight from 7 to 11 p.m. It will also be open next Friday and Saturday night as well on Halloween night, Tuesday, Oct. 31 at the abovementioned hours of operation. A tour through the haunted house costs $5 and lasts approximately 20 minutes so if you're up for a good scare be sure to visit all the ghouls and goblins out on Highway 10.

Under the Big Top: Carson & Barnes Circus returns to Butler County, promising five-rings of non-stop action and excitement. The event is sponsored by the Professional Men's Club of Greenville. Advance tickets are available at selected locations for $12 (adults) and $6 (children).

Sweet Gum Bottom Blues Festival: The second annual Blues Fest will kickoff at noon on Saturday, Oct. 28 in downtown Greenville. Last year's festival was a huge success and this year promises even more. This year's festival promises food, crafts and a classic car showcase as well as plenty of traditional southern Blues.

Old Time Farm Day: Old Time Farm Day starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 and takes place at McClure Farm on Halso Mill Road. Mule plowing, blacksmithing, syrup making, butter churning, a classic tractor parade are among some of the events planned for the day.
