Coach Bob Farrior's Highland Home Flying Squadron ended four weeks of agonizing football with a 34-to-6 emotional homecoming victory over a winless group of Jaguars from Barbour County.

In front of old and returning alumni, the Fly-Boys were confident and eager to respond to a hard week of workouts in order to make their 2006 homecoming a successful one.

As they started out of the locker room, things did not look so bright.

During the week the HH coaching staff decided to ditch the high octane spread offense for the more running type offense of the &#8220I” formation.

With the score tied at 0-to-0 to start the 2nd quarter, the Squadron offensive unit finally got on track with 10:38 showing on the clock.

That's when running back Alzamar Wallace raced 25 yards into the Cat end zone to cap off a 4 play, 43 yard drive.

Down by a touchdown, the Jaguars elected to pull a little trick on 4th down at their own 32 yard line.

That's when they snapped the ball to the up-back on a fake punt play, but defensive end Ethan Thierfelder stuffed the runner at the line of scrimmage for no gain.

With 7:43 showing on the scoreboard clock, Darius Chambers notched the Squadron 2nd score of the game on a 14 yard run.

Leading 14-to-0, the Big Blue closed out the 1st half scoring with 19 seconds, as QB Deymond Sankey hit Chambers on a 14 yard scoring strike.

Place kicker Kyle Tucker's PAT was true as HHS went into the locker room leading 21 – 0 at halftime.

To start the 2nd half, the Cats from Barbour County ran 60 yards in 10 plays, down to the HH 4 yard line, taking nearly 8 minutes off the clock.

A strong defensive stand pushed the ball back to the HH 15 yard line, as the Jaguars turned the ball over on downs with 2:29 on the clock.

From that point, it took the Fly-Boys only two plays to cover the 85 yards, as QB Sankey hit his 2nd touchdown toss of the game, a 77 yard strike to wide-out Cordell Thomas.

Up by four touchdowns, 28-to-0, Squadron senior receiver Justin Robinson closed out the scoring for HH as he snared a Deymond Sankey pass for the score.

The Jaguars scored a touchdown to make the final margin stand at HH 34, Barbour County 6.

Through 3 quarters, the Fly-Boys were led on offense by Alzamar Wallace, who had 76 yards rushing and one touchdown.

QB Deymond Sankey had 125 yards passing and 3 touchdown tosses and one interception. The Fly-Boys had 294 yards of total offense, compared to only 62 yards for the Cats.

Once again, place kicker Kyle Tucker had a good night, connecting on 4-to-5 extra point attempts.

Over the last two games, he is 8 of 9 on extra points and one field goal.

On defense, the Squadron was led by line backer Zack Stillwell, who has 9 solo stops and one assist.

Highland Home closes out 2A Region 2 play this week as they travel to Loachapoka for a 7:00 p.m. kick off.
