Thompson to hold book signing Sunday

A Greenville native who has penned a collection of entertaining and insightful essays on all things Southern will be in town this weekend to sign copies of her book.

Melinda Rainey Thompson, author of &#8220SWAG: Southern Women Aging Gracefully,” will be at the Greenville-Butler County Public Library this Sunday, Nov. 5 for a book signing.

The event is slated for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

&#8220I am looking forward to coming back home and seeing my old friends - and I hope to meet some new ones,” Thompson said.

The author, a graduate of Fort Dale Academy and a former English instructor at Birmingham-Southern College, lives in Birmingham with her family.

Her book, a compilation of essays from a popular newsletter she sent out to avoid &#8220mommy burnout,” also includes new material previously unpublished.

&#8220It started out as a lark and it turned into a book. I have been so gratified by the response from readers across the country,” Thompson said.

Copies of &#8220SWAG” will be available at the signing.

The book is also available at both major and independent book sellers.
