In Friday night’s &uot;Battle of the Bulldogs,&uot; Coach David Lowery’s boys turned Kinston into chihuahuas, declawing them by a score of 49-3.

&uot;We got production from the whole squad,&uot; saidCoach Lowery.&uot;Everything was working from the special teams to the passing and running games as well as the defense, which was hitting on all cylinders. If we can continue like we’re going, we’ll give Luverne a run for their money Thursday night, and hopefully be ready for the playoffs. We have to keep working hard though, because Luverne will be, by far, the best team we’ve faced this year.&uot;

As usual, QB Jonathan Helms led the offensive attack, completing 5 of 7 for 84 yards and 3 TD’s, while Chris Booker ran for 64 yards and 1 score, and James Pittman 37 yards and 1 TD. Thad Frazier snagged 2 passes for 2 TD’s while Roy-L Knighten contributed the other receiving score. Knighten and Pittman ignited the visiting crowd, Knighten with a 41-yard scoring scamper on a punt return, and Pittman with an 86-yard dash for another on a kickoff return. Marcus Owens had a good night kicking, hitting on 5 of 6 PAT’s.

Defensively, Corey Latham, Jeffrey Daniels, Frazier and Westley Spivey led the way with 6 stops apiece, while Teven Daniels added 5. Stephen Walker and Booker each contributed an interception to the cause.

Thursday night’s game is the match-up everyone has been waiting for all year. The Bulldogs of Brantley host their biggest rival, the Tigers of Luverne in &uot;THE BATTLE OF THE UNBEATENS.&uot; Game time is 7 p.m.
